Strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance beautifully come together in functional movement. I often refer to it as “whole food” movement. Just as we’ve deconstructed nutrition, we do the same with movement. Often, muscle strength and flexibility are trained separately. Muscles are usually isolated; for example, an exercise that only targets the hamstrings or just the biceps. The natural form of movement involves moving the body as a whole, where muscles contract and relax in perfect harmony.
