Don’t just move more,

but move more of you!

Strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance beautifully come together in functional movement. I often refer to it as “whole food” movement. Just as we’ve deconstructed nutrition, we do the same with movement. Often, muscle strength and flexibility are trained separately. Muscles are usually isolated; for example, an exercise that only targets the hamstrings or just the biceps. The natural form of movement involves moving the body as a whole, where muscles contract and relax in perfect harmony.

The healthiest form of movement is, therefore, performing movements that our bodies are designed for: functional movement! Moving with a purpose, which is always a combination of strength, flexibility, coordination, and not to forget, balance.

Functional flow can be beautifully combined with yoga and Pilates. If you want to learn more about how to apply functional flow in your classes, then this 3-day teacher training module is for you.

Functional flow definitely falls into the category of body and mind. The flow aspect and the fact that you’re moving your entire body, make it necessary to be present, in the moment. Your frontal lobe, the comparing, analyzing, judging part of your brain, must surrender to your “back brain”. That’s where flow, intuition, inspiration, connection and being in the moment reside.

Part of the functional flow training includes the principles of Ido Portal, Katy Bowman, Tracey Anderson, and Essentrics by Miranda Esmonde.

Because we teach the body as a whole, you, as a teacher, learns to address the body as a whole. The basic principles of NLP and hypnosis are therefore part of the training.
